Marlon's Mosaic

Creating the big picture, piece by piece.

Welcome to my mosaic. Let me start by breaking it down. Marlon is my middle name. I use it a lot if I don’t have the patience to correct people for misspelling or saying my first name wrong. It’s a simple 4 letter name but people always have a hard time with it, eventually making up corky nicknames with corky suffixes that I’ve adapted to throughout the years. My last name is an enigma. It has been the center of controversy in my family ever since my great grandparents set up shop in New York. There are generally 3 ways to pronounce my surname; it just depends on where you come from. It has a known history of being derived from Bordes to Bordello. I’ve read it stems from Latin, French, and even Italian, with accents over the “e” and without. Mosaics are very special to me. They remind me of being young because I saw them everywhere where I was born. Churches, parks, and schools are where I saw them most. What I love about mosaics is that it takes a lot of little pieces to form the overall picture, and to me, this outlet (Tumblr), allows me to lay down pieces of my life eventually forming the big picture. Mosaics to me represent culture, music, colors, art, spirit, and a plethora of other things. So, I invite you to my mosaic, the pieces of my life and my days here.
